Climate
Xian has a temperate climate, characterized by hot and humid summers, cold and dry winters. Most of the annual rainfall occurs from July to October. Snow is very rare.

History
Xian had historically been a Changan in ancient China. It was the capital city of 13 feudal Zhou dynasties. The rich historical heritage makes Xian a world-famous tourist city that attracts millions of foreign travelers every year. The city is a starting point for the Great Silk Road and has Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors Museum (“Eighth Wonder of the World“), Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Paradise cultural theme park.
Back in the Tang dynasty, more than 1000 years ago, Xian began to receive students from Japan, Korea and other Asian countries. In recent years, with a growing interest in learning Chinese around the world, Xian has become one of the most visited cities for learning Chinese.

Changan University
Changan University related to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is on the list “211 Project“. Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Land Resources, the Ministry of Housing and urban-rural construction and Shaanxi provincial government jointly manage the university.
At the same time, it is one of the key development universities on the state innovation platform of the “985 Project“. The university is the result of the merge of Xian Highway University, Xian Institute of Engineering and Northwest Institute of Construction Engineering in 2000. Those universities were founded in the 1950s. More than 250.000 students graduated here, most of them from the fields of road transport, land and environment and construction.
Shanxi Normal University
Shanxi Normal University related to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is on the list “211 Project“. It was founded in 1944 under the original name “Shaanxing Provincial Normal College” In 1960 it allied with “Shaanxing Normal College” to become “Shaanxing Normal University”. In 1978, it was placed under the direct control of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Xian Jiao Tong University
Xian Jiao Tong University is a key university under the direct control of the Chinese Ministry of Education and one of the eldest universities in China. Its predecessor Nanyang College was founded in 1896 in Shanghai and renamed Jiao Tong University in 1921.
In 1956 the main part of Jiao Tong University was moved to Xian in accordance with the decision of State Council. Later became known as Xian Jiao Tong University in 1959. Currently, Xian Jiao Tong University is in the World First-Class Universities and Disciplines List.
Northwest University
In 1912, Northwest University got its current name and was renamed Northwest National University in 1923. Then was renamed Northwest Associated University in 1938. In 1939, again became known as Northwest National University.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Northwestern University was a comprehensive university under the direct control of the Ministry of Education. In 1958, the university came under the Shaanxi province administration. Since 1978, the university is one of the key universities in China. Nowadays, Northwest University is jointly managed by the Ministry of Education and Shaanxi province.
Xian University of Technology
Xian University of Technology (XUT) – it is a comprehensive state university specializing mainly in science and technology. The provincial and central government of Shaanxi province jointly manage that university. It was founded in 1949 and is 70 years old. Before January 1994 became known as Shaanxi Mechanical Engineering Institute.
The university actively exploring the ways of international cooperation and exchanges in the field of education. The main goal is to encourage more students to adopt international diversified education. The Xian University of Technology also positively promotes Anglo-Chinese bilingual teaching methods.
