History
Harbin Engineering University has an ancestor university, opened in 1952 and named as “PLA engineering university”. In 1971, Harbin Engineering University started to work as a college, which appeared from the amalgamation of the organizations and masters of navigational engineers. In 1993, its name changed to the present well-known name. In 1976, Harbin Engineering University was recognized as main state-level university by the committee of sciences and the government and took an authority to confer grade levels and Ph.D. levels in 1984, entered the list of the project “two-one-one” to get extra help in the main-disciplines from the government in 1992, and in 2001, permitted to use graduating college from the agency pedagogics. At present, the university is managed by the committee of sciences and in favor of the committee and the public of Heilongjiang province, the station of sciences and technologies of the defensive end of china is under the construction. The finishing it has been planned to be in two years.
Detailed information about university
The total campus of the university amounts to 12km2. The campus is composed of 8km2 places that full of teaching edifices and stations. The design of the edifices seems like a mixture of native and foreign items such as flight cornices and jaded tile.
The campus consists of 12 high schools, namely the high school of shipping, the high school of powering and energy-saving, the high school of automatics, the high school of engineering of marine, the high school of electronics, the high school of programming and IT, the high school of telecommunications, the high school of native engineering, the high school of continuing educations, the high school of chemistry and nucleonics, the high school of marine management, the high school of socialism and humanity and two divisions and one station, English literature and sinology division, martial solidity preparation division and the station of engineering. Besides, there is a large group of institutions of 50 on the campus. Here are the most popular ones: Chanda institution of technologies and sciences of engineering, the institution of R&D of Undersea (aquatics) and the institution of nucleonic sciences. The campus has also different specific and state-level labs, consist of 3 state-level main labs, 4 state-level electronics specialize labs, a state-level practicing lab, 14 regional main labs, and much more than 130 labs.
For 30 years, Harbin Engineering University has been had advanced and main-oriented with subjects of shipping, marine expedition, and nucleonics, program and has been enhancing it regularly. The program includes 60 long suits for undergrads, 102 long suits for grad level students, 29 long suits for doctorates and 4 post-doctorate R&D bases. The long suits are composed of an overall 41 different level subjects. These are some of the subjects: vessels and sea constructions, navigational guide and controlling, aquatics, the process of data and signaling, automatics and others.
