Brief history
The history of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology can be traced back to the tie of the establishment of the colleges disciplined with the subjects of the west and called “Tianjin Beyang College” in 1894. During the times of the development, the college reformed the subjects into comprehensive ones, in particular the fields of the subjects of architecture and basic engineering. The government decided to reconstruct educational institutes and to make them higher educational institutes in 1954.
After that, the name of the college was changed to “Xi’an engineering and technology Institute” with the subjects based on designing, architecture and regional engineering with the support of West technology University, Qing Dao university of technologies and Jiansu technology academy. In 1962, the name was changed again, but this time to “Xi’an Engineering and Mining Institute”. At last, this university received its current name in virtue of the approval of the agency pedagogics on 11 April 1995 and started to show itself in the fields of architecture and high technologies between the same specialized universities in China.

Scholarships
Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology recruits 80-110 students for scholarships every year. Scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree as well as for language courses are provided.

Today Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology is situated in a popular suburb of the Xi’an province with its history and culture that is known as the region of the Tang’s dynasty. It is one of the 100 best universities at teaching in the state. The university is very big and 9km2 ground covered by its teaching buildings and it owns totally a territory of 33km2, which was surrounded by beautiful natural scenes and an environment of science.
Training system
Since the foundation, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology has been inheriting and promoting own main features and experiences those are collected until now. By unstoppable labors of the masters and scholars, it could be comprehensive disciplined university as well as it is enjoying with its popularity in the state and foreign countries because of great environment of teaching, deep traditional cultures, comfortable accommodation and big campus.
The main subjects of the university are the specialties of engineering and designing (architecture). Other subjects are history, language, economy, administration, law and natural sciences. It is currently in possession of 15 colleges and divisions, which are conferring undergraduates with over 63 schemes in the region. It gives chances of upgrading their diplomas from bachelor to master back to back to scholars.
5-year training involving architectonics of cities, landscapes and basic designing subjects are also available beside from engineering. Nine subjects (architectonics, basic-engineering, constructing, marine-engineering, sciences of physics, designing arts and others) of the university are very popular in the state. Moreover, 12 subjects, containing sciences of minerals, sciences of countering of water-pollutions, architectonics, basic-engineering, constructing, marine-engineering, sciences of physics, designing arts, etc., are well-known in the province.
Faculties
In the university, more than 3,000 faculties, consist of 5 academics of architectonics academies of China, 2 academics of the Africa sciences academy, 1,500 masters, explorers, qualified engineers and technical specialists are working. The personnel of faculties are nicely arranged. They are teaching closing to 50,000 collegians, are composed of 26,000 bachelors, 9,000 postgraduate levels, and 17,000 scholars at skill training levels and collegians of education of continuing.
Teaching buildings
Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology is one of the best 100 universities approved by the government to award doctorate, master and bachelor levels. It has 7 A1 and 29 A2 schemes focused on conferring doctorates, 21 A1 and 69 A2 schemes on conferring master and bachelor levelled scholars, include whole subjects of the university. It is proud of one state level lab growing station, one state level R&D of advanced and latest technologies station, 26 regional educational bases and many other engineering and architectonics exploration bases.
International features
Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology is going only forward with a goal of being ranked amongst best-internationalized universities of China. It has recruited over 600 foreign collegians last year. The university is really benefiting from exchanging scholars to the universities of USA, Korea, France, Japan, etc. In the coming semester, it has plans of establishing more advanced subjects for international students.
