Hohai University was established in 1912 as Hohai principal engineering college and initial orientation was sea industry of the state. Today it is known as a university supported by the “two-one-one” enterprise of the government and in the leading places of the universities, which have a graduating college in the province and the state. It is a native principal university, controlled by the MOE and agency pedagogics, and complete-disciplined university with sciences and inquiries of sea industry, engineering of marine, navigation and spread ranging subjects of economy, history, literature, administration and so on.

Scholarships
Hohai University recruits 120-160 students for scholarships every year. Scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree as well as for language courses are provided.

Facilities, Faculties, Programms
This university owes four dorms, which cover an overall territory of 17km2. The dorm of Dontown cover 5km2 land and is situated under the mountains of Qingliyang with attractive scenes. The dorm of Tianjin with an arena of 6km2 and is stationed in the base of developing the economy of the province of Nanjing. The Changzou dorm with 4km2 territory in the Centre of developing high technologies of chanzou province. The last dorm is under the construction and formally naming will be in 2020.
Hohai University includes 15 high schools and institutes, a state-level inquiry station, a state-level main lab, 16 main labs and province-level inquiry station in the institutions of engineering. It confers 9 post-doctoral schemes, 41 doctorate schemes, 210 master level schemes, 17 grad’s schemes and M.B.A programs of engineering and 68 bachelor schemes. Its subjects in the branches of sea resourcing, hydraulics, hydro powering and maritime engineering are the leader subjects in the state. The staff members and grads are qualified and high-educated in architecture, building, marketing, and other engineering subjects. They have participated in the popular programs like “Sea shipping from south to north program”, “yellow-river of Xiaolandi”, and much more.
In the university, there is a body of students of more than 40,000. Amongst them, 12,000 grad levels, 25,000 undergrad levels, other professor and doctorate level scholars. The total number of teachers is proximately 4,800, includes 3,000 junior teachers and masters, 43 academics of the local engineering academies, and 200 skilled lecturers to teach Ph.D. level collegians.

One of the most advanced and major strategies of the university always becomes Exchanging scholars and Cooperating with oversea universities. By now, it has a lot of programs of exchanging and good relationships with educational institutions in any country in the world. Because, it was authorized to grant foreign bachelor, master and doctoral level seekers 50 years ago by the Committee of education of the government.
Hohai University is going to make the tuition system highest in the native and global level, especially in the subjects of sea shipping, and open the doors of the university and provide all foreigners with multinational disciplined schooling programs.
