Since the foundation in 1953, Chongqing Medical University (CMU) has been working in the province of Chonqing as a medicine-oriented high school with the discipline system of the Agency pedagogics. In 1998, it started to grant Bachelor, professional, Ph.D. degrees in these specialties: Biochemistry, surgery, pharmacy, neurology, therapeutics, optometry and other many med branches.

Chongqing Medical University is actively expanding the territory because of a rapidly increasing number of students and the necessity for the places to practice.
By now, the size of the territory has been reached to 29km2, which divided into Jinyun and Yuzhon. Yuzhon is the main dorm of CMU, consists of 70% of the university and is situated near the Yangtze lake. At this moment, Jinyun is being built with the goal of being the most modern in Chonqing. CMU has earned 5,260,000,000 yuan and spent 2,120,000 yuan for technologies that used by junior medics, for salaries of faculty members and archives, which stored more than 1,420,000 volumes and reconstructing and modernizing classrooms, labs and R&D centers.
University runs 5 clinics that controlled by the director and recognized one of the best local A1 clinics. Every clinic owes greater than 6,000 rooms for patients and has been equipped with modern technologies. Each year about 130,000 patients are treated in these clinics. Moreover, CMU possesses 18 clinics for well-qualified scholars to train and practice, and 6 clinics are being constructed in the Jinyun dorm, and anticipating to finish this construction in the next 2 years.

1,415 masters, 4,915 assistant masters, and 432 doctorates are working at Chongqing Medical University. Most of the masters have been awarded with the grants and prizes like “million-talents”, “Cheun Kon Collegian and inventive group”, “Superior Elites of the New World”, “Donation for glorious masters of institutes, college and academies”, “Prize for contemporary masters”, “” and so on.
Chongqing Medical University consists of the educating buildings, are disunited into 3 sectors: Diagnosing, illnesses of infections, dermatology. Additionally, Chongqing Medical University has three stated main labs of Chonqing, 1 central static lab of the agency pedagogics, 1 local R&D Centre of machinery, 16 local regional leading labs, 13 inquiry schools, 6 inquiry centres and 19 labs of development.
In the last 20 years, Chongqing Medical University created many big and well-known blueprints in the institutions of farming and medicines for domestic animals and plants in different degrees that includes 20-30 blueprints were helped by local soul-searching new technologies and developing programmes for the strategy of evolving marketing and society of the Republic of China, local programme of chemistry and biology enterprise, famous local principal “nine-eight-three” programme, local explorations and progression of information technologies programme (“eight-six-three”), provincial Donations for junior inventors, provincial donations for the innovations of pharmacy and provincial donations for elites of 21st century. In 2008, Chongqing Medical University ranked 40th all over the republic by the blog of the Academy of Informatics and other famous newspapers.
Each year, Chongqing Medical University is developing completely all training programmes and prints best-seller magazines such as Magazine of Chongqing Medical University, Magazine of dermatology, Magazine of medicinal diagnostics, etc.
