Northwest A & F University began its first enrollment of students in Bachelor programs already in 1936, and in the early 1940s, the recruitment of Master’s programs was launched. The institution of higher education is the first high-level institution in the field of agricultural education in the northwestern part of the Middle Kingdom.
In the structure of the Higher School, there are more than eighteen colleges, in addition, the university includes the Institute for the Protection of Soils and Water Resources.
From the very beginning of its work, the educational institute carried out and successfully completed more than five thousand scientific studies. About one thousand eight hundred of them were awarded prizes, in particular, more than one hundred projects were awarded national awards. It should be noted that one of the best achievements of the High education institution is the development of “Bima-1”, which is the most frequently grown wheat variety, as well as “Xiaoyan-6”, the leading interchangeable assortment. Special attention is also paid to the new Qingguan apple, which was developed thanks to the efforts of scientists and professors of the Higher Educational Institution. In monetary terms, these projects are estimated at more than 28.8 billion US dollars.

Academic projects, awards
The High School is headed by the Department of Education and other government departments. Considering all the achievements of the university, he was included in the list of the best High education institutions of the country, as well as in the list of “project 211”, and also he is supported by the program “Project 985”. The main goal that the university is facing is to become an international institution of higher education.
The university offers its students sixty-four bachelor programs, which, in turn, include eleven areas of science, such as engineering, economics, philosophy, and others. Training is also being conducted in national disciplines, their total number is seven. These are such disciplines as soil science, animal genetics, and others. Among other things, students are offered specialized courses on key government programs, such as “Genetics of agricultural crops” and “Agricultural entomology.”
Programs of Master’s and doctoral studies
For those who want to follow the footsteps of science, students are offered programs of Masters and doctoral studies. Today, the university enrolls over twenty thousand students in Bachelor programs, as well as more than seven thousand students in Master’s programs. The number of applicants and future scientists who are studying for doctoral programs is more than five and a half thousand.
It should be noted that the university is preparing for 25 types of disciplines of the ministerial level, in addition, as part of the material and technical base of the Higher School there are more than fifteen primary science laboratories, which are equipped with the latest technology. The university also has 4 specialized laboratories of the national level, as well as more than ten mobile research stations for conducting research projects by students of doctoral programs. At the Higher School specialists prepare for master’s programs in various fields, in particular, these are such areas as veterinary medicine, gardening, landscape specialist and others. All necessary conditions have been created for comfortable research and laboratory testing by young scientists. As a result of all this, an increase in the quality of education, the foundation of students’ knowledge, is expected, not only from the theoretical side but also from the practical side.
Faculty, staff, professors
The faculty of the High education establishment has over three thousand five hundred teachers, of whom about one thousand five hundred are full-time teachers. A quantity of professors and associate professors is more than six hundred, most of them improved and continue to improve their skills abroad, thereby expanding their scientific outlook. As part of the teachers, there are more than 250 scientists professors who are entitled to direct the doctoral work of students. Today, one academician from the Academy of China, as well as another from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, works at the university. It should be emphasized that the winnings of the teaching staff, in particular, by professors of the Higher School, won the competitions “Professor of the Department”, “Best Lecturer” under the program “Cheung Kong Scholars”, as well as 4 times in the “National Fund of Outstanding Youth”. In addition, among the teachers, there are 1 laureate of the “Talent Training Fund”, 3 laureates of the Prize for Young Teachers in Higher Education awards, as well as 28 scientists from the New Talent Program at the University.
International partnerships
The administration of the University is very interested in international partnerships with other universities and exchange programs, as well as cooperation in the areas of technology and science. Today, the High school has signed over fifty partner memorandums on mutual research projects with research institutes and centers. The geography of the countries of these centers is quite extensive, these are countries such as Japan, the USA, Australia, and others. It should be particularly underlined that since 2006, the Higher School is entitled to attract foreign students through grant places thanks to scholarship programs of the Chinese government.
