The university began its history in the early twentieth century, namely in 1911. At the time of its opening, the school was named as the “Hangzhou Business School”, but after almost one century, in 2004, the school was renamed “Zhejiang Gunshan University”. The Graduate School is a state university, which, was rated by the Ministry of Education as one of the best educational institutions in the country (class A). Zhejiang Gongshang University is located in the Zhejiang region, which is located in eastern China.

Number of students
Today, the number of students enrolled in more than 25 thousand, including undergraduate and graduate students. The university offers its students training in 45 types of Bachelor programs, and 37 kinds of master’s programs for those, who want to continue their research activities. In addition, for the gifted and those who wish to achieve the highest scientific level, the Higher School offers three types of doctoral programs. The range of areas of training for undergraduate and graduate programs is quite wide, the training of specialists in the field of science, literature, technology, and others is underway.
Higher education institution consists of two parts, Zhejiang is the name of the town, and “Gongshang” – translated from Chinese means “business and technology”. Thus, it is not difficult to guess that the Higher School is oriented in the field of business and modern types of technologies.
International activity
The Zhejiang Gongshang University began its international activity in the early 1980s when foreign students were first enrolled in studies. Nowadays, more than 1,000 foreign students study at the university, and the geography of visiting students covers all the continents of the world. The number of countries from which students came is more than forty-two. It should be noted that foreign students also have a tendency to learn Chinese language and culture, not the only as an additional discipline, but as a specialty and undergraduate degree.

The number of employees of the Higher School is almost two thousand, including the most highly qualified teachers, professors, and doctoral students. Most of them have increased their skills abroad, in Europe and Asia. The number of square meters of the university is more than 1,400,000. It should be especially noted that there is a library in the university, whose library collection consists of more than 2.5 million books, as well as 11 thousand types of scientific journals.
Administration of the University
The administration of the University pays special attention to international cooperation with universities abroad, in particular, the university has already established more than 50 partner memorandums with research centers, institutes, and universities of Europe, Asia, and North America. Student exchanges, in particular, the most frequent countries whose universities have exchange programs such as Japan, Canada, Belgium, and others, are not left without attention. Thus, we can surely say that the level of internationalization in the Higher School is at a high level of development.
