Foundation
Returning to the 1910s, Jimei Normal College commenced its activity in education teaching and the principal was TanKah Kee. And the college is known as the ancestor of Jimei University(集美大学) as it was the foundation stone and the central and biggest part of the 1995’s establishment of Jimei University from a combination of 4 colleges and schools. To date, the university can be told the best university and educational department of China situated in the downtown of Fujian.
It gives a comprehensive education and enhanced its teaching system considerably, even though it took the university tile just 24 years ago. It was approved to confer all bachelor’s, masters and doctoral degrees by the Ministry of Education. However, it is not so easy to be admitted into doctoral courses as it takes a fair and hard enough admission test. Covering all top–class universities’ standards, this university has been enrolling overseas students for years.

Scholarships
Jimei University recruits 80-120 students for scholarships every year. Scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree as well as for language courses are provided.
Staff
The overall number of its staff exceeds over 2,500, which includes 2,000 all-day tutors. In the staff, there are so many highly qualified professor titled teaching people and yet from abroad. Going back to the numbers, about 700 lecturers with a Ph.D. degree and 38 foreigners in the same level altogether happen to be recognized as the face of the university as they have been cultivating talented youth at the top class of their field.
Another point what Jimei University can boast of that is the accomplishments and winnings of them in training and researching in both national and provincial levels. Here are some of it: 53 masters is being granted with China’s scholarship, one winner of the nationwide 100 elites Program and 19 outstanding tutors of the province as well as 26 employees awarding with Minjiyang’s scholarship. Although many other ones were left unmentioned here, only this is what hundreds of universities want to have, isn’t it?
Training youth
Homing on in training the future of the nation, Jimei University today owns a huge enrollment of 28,000 candidates to learn and improve their skills along with the curriculum. The significantly bigger share of it, 25,000, is the undergraduates and 2,000 have been pursuing their master diplomas. As accepting hundreds of students from abroad, more than 700 overseas students are studying at the moment in the university.
Three of China’s top-class complete reformation plans have been conducted in there and consequently, inspiring and remarkable results have been gathered. For example, 9 students became extraordinary trainees in the nationwide popular competition in 2011, scores of students won the “National Tournament Award” taken place every year among China’s best universities to share and show off their abilities in more than 10 subjects and sciences.
All of the students either graduates or still studying are highly appreciated by the employers. Hence, 96% of the graduates can get employed every year on average, whereas, it’s not so easy to reach that level and increase the unemployment rate amongst their students. Certainly, need to say that “Respect for Jimei University”.
Facilities
Having a total housing and facility land of 10 km2, the university covers a territory of 23 km2. Surrounded by the trees and greenish scenes and landscapes, the park side of it gives a wonderful sense of beauty. What’s more, the architecture of the inside facilities is very famous and well-known after being chosen and described as China’s Critical Culture Maintained Contemporary View of educational facilities.
